Lago Todos los Santos

It is also known as Emerald Lake because of the color of its waters and, although it is not one of the largest lakes in the country, it is one of the most beautiful, since volcanoes and steep mountains rise around it.

You can embark on a boat or catamaran for a ride with wonderful views from a different perspective.

Path Los Alerces

The route begins in Petrohué and runs along a path between lush forests and views of the Osorno Volcano, the mountain range and the Todos los Santos Lake, passing through silent beaches, ideal for resting with your snack or picnic. Circular path of about 9 miles, approx 4.5 hours. Technical difficulty: easy.

Laguna Verde

Just 10 minutes from La Colmena you will find Laguna Verde, where you can walk beautiful self-guided trails and surely see some curious fox. The facilities have a CONAF office, souvenir shop and restrooms.

Going forward 20 minutes along route U-99-V towards Las Cascadas, you will arrive at Canopy Chile where you will jump from tree to tree! Through cables you will fly through the forest! (children as of 5 yrs). Located a few kilometers from Ensenada, on the way to Cascadas.

Petrohué Falls

Fantastic waterfalls of the Petrohué river within the territory of the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. The waterfalls are the drainages in the Petrohué River of the waters of Lake Todos Los Santos, which fall between rocks of volcanic origin that form immense natural pools. It has lush vegetation that combines wonderfully with its emerald waters. Walk of approx 30 minutes.

Osorno Volcano

The Osorno volcano is part of the Parque Nacional Vicente Pérez Rosales, and its height is 8.700 feet. A complete panoramic view of Lake Llanquihue and part of the Andes is possible on a sunny day.

Located just 6km from Ensenada, the vehicle reaches an altitude of 1,200 meters on a paved road where there is a Ski and Mountain Center, Cafeteria service and different activities for all ages.

From the slopes of the Osorno Volcano, a 3-hour walk begins in the direction of the Glacier viewpoint (1800 meters above sea level) to observe the characteristic Seracs of the glacier.

We’ill descend to the Red Volcano and return to the starting point. We’ll ride our bicycles to Ensenada.

El Solitario trail

A classic trekking of the area crossing temperate rainy forests and volcanic lahars on a 3.7 mile trail of low difficulty that crosses the southern slope of the Osorno volcano to the Petrohué river valley.

This hike begins with a 40-minute ascent to the valley between the volcano and Cerro La Picada, where we’ll enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the basin and the volcanoes adjacent to Todos los Santos Lake. The trail descends to the lake and ends in the Petrohué sector.

Technical difficulty: easy, approx 2 hours per section.

Getting there

Take route 225 towards Ensenada and from the roundabout take route U-99-V towards Las Cascadas. Turn sharply to the left towards U-55-V to Puerto Octay.

It offers a beautiful waterfront in a quiet environment among historical buildings. Around the square you will find local cheeses and other local products for sale. You can visit the Parroquia San Agustín, and then cross the street for lunch at Café Mesón Carpintero.

When you start heading back to La Colmena, we recommend you make a stop at the swings of Cochamó. You will park near the hosts’ house and after a steep 20-30 minute walk up the hill, you will reach the swings. Enjoy a fabulous view of the Reloncaví Estuary, from where you can see the Yates Volcano in the background and between the hills the majestic Osorno volcano.

Villa Peulla

Peulla is a small lake port along the east coast of Lake Todos los Santos, very close to the border with Argentina. To get there you must get to Puerto Petrohué, from where you can take a catamaran to sail for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

In Peulla there are restaurant services, walks and hikes such as the path to the Velo de Novia waterfall, which is very easy to access.
